Fall Programs

Dive into 16th century history this fall at the park. Our fall program schedule runs from October 3 - November 16 and allows guests to learn more about this historic time period through live demonstrations, games and storytelling. Guests are encouraged to participate in these programs, ask questions and engage with our historic costumed interpreters. This year's schedule includes a Nine Pin game in the Settlement Site, a gun drill on the Elizabeth II and mysterious tales from North Carolina Myths and Legends told by settler, James Lacey, below deck on the Elizabeth II.

Check the schedule below for program dates and times. Cooler temperatures and smaller crowds in the shoulder season make fall the perfect time to visit the park. Discover, explore, learn and play here!

2019 Fall Programs Schedule

Nine Pin Game in the Settlement Site

Nine Pin Game in the Settlement Site

11 am & 3 pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Occasionally settlers would have time to unwind with a game of Nine Pin. This forerunner of modern bowling was popular in England, and our settlers have brought the tradition with them to the new world. Wander down to the settlement to participate in a Nine Pin tournament.

Gun Drill on the Elizabeth II

Gun Drill on the Elizabeth II

12 pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday

Guns were an important part of the Roanoke Voyages to protect the ship's passengers and cargo. Come smell the gun powder and shout "Huzah for England!" when we fire the sling gun on the Elizabeth II

Mysterious Tales from North Carolina Myths and Legends on the Elizabeth II

Mysterious Tales from North Carolina Myths and Legends on the Elizabeth II

2:30 pm every Sunday

Join one of our settlers, James Lacey, below deck on the Elizabeth II to hear mysterious tales from North Carolina Myths and Legends! Stories will include The Ghost Ship of Diamond Shoals, Blackbeard’s Cup, The Ballad of Nell Cropsey, and The Flaming Ship of Ocracoke. New stories every week, so come hear them all... if you dare.
