We Made the Outer Banks Promise
A Sustainable Tourism Initiative with the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau
During our 2026 winter break, Roanoke Island Festival Park made the Outer Banks Promise with the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau!
As a place dedicated to sharing the history and heritage of the Outer Banks, we’re proud to support efforts that protect the natural beauty and community that make this region so special. By taking the Outer Banks Promise, we commit to responsible actions and a deep respect for our coastal environment, helping ensure the OBX remains a place to learn from, explore, and enjoy for generations to come.
The Outer Banks Promise:
The Outer Banks Promise is a voluntary pledge that inspires responsible behavior, preserves the environment and culture of the area and enhances stewardship and safety. This amazing natural wonder has been the source of historic achievements and supported a special way of life for generations. Let’s keep it that way and do our part. Look out for one another, be aware and prepared for any situation and work together to protect this place that we love. So let’s promise to:
Discover this land of history and inspiration with a spirit of kindness and appreciation.
Turn "what ifs" into "let's prepare."
Pack it in, pack it out. Leave no trace.
Wander with wonder, sticking to roads and paths.
Love the beach, respect the ocean.
Be a wildlife star, observing animals safely from afar.
Support local. Small acts have big impacts.
