Fall Programs at the Park
As the air turns crisp and the crowds of summer begin to fade, Roanoke Island Festival Park welcomes a new season of discovery. Fall is a special time on the waterfront—offering a quieter, more relaxed pace to explore the stories that shaped early America.
This season, our programs invite visitors to dive deeper into hands-on history, from interactive demonstrations to engaging activities for all ages. Whether you’re strolling the grounds, stepping aboard the Elizabeth II, or connecting with the past at the Settlement Site and American Indian Town, there’s something new to experience with each visit.
Featured Fall Programs
Elizabethan Brewing (Fall)
Humanity’s oldest friend, brewing played a significant role in daily Elizabethan life—from entertainment to survival. Visit the Elizabeth II to learn what historical beer and ale were made from and how they were crafted.

Sword Training Course
Put your skills to the test in this interactive experience at the English Settlement. Practice your aim, speed, and maneuvering as you make your way through the course—training swords provided!
Fridays, 2–4 PM (September 11 – November 20)

Death and Dying
Explore the realities of life—and death—in the 16th century during this special guided tour. Learn about Algonquian traditions on Roanoke Island, as well as English and Spanish practices surrounding death, disease, and burial in a time before modern medicine.
