Tour the Adventure Museum

The Roanoke Adventure Museum offers a self-guided, interactive journey through over 400 years of Outer Banks history. Visitors explore exhibits on 16th-century navigation, indigenous culture, the Lost Colony, and the birth of North Carolina. Highlights include pirate tales from the 18th century, Civil War stories, and the Freedmen’s Colony. Kids can dress up in period costumes, while adults enjoy historical portraits and artifacts. Exhibits also cover the region’s maritime heritage, including the Graveyard of the Atlantic, a restored shad boat, and the rise of tourism in the Outer Banks.

"We found this place quite by accident, and it was awesome! Most engaging interactive history museum I've seen. Great information and small enough to make it a personal experience. Visited with my mom, husband and our 6 year old daughter. We all loved it!" - Jennifer N. from Edgewater, MD
