Mother's Day at the Park

May 9, 2019
Mother and baby daughter sitting on the lawn at the park

Don't forget! Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday. If you're like most of us, it can be challenging to find the perfect gift that shows just how much you care. If you're low on Mother's Day gift ideas, Roanoke Island Festival Park has an experience or gift that your mom will love! Check out our gift and experience guide for suggestions.

Gift items for mothers in the Museum Stores

Gift Guide

  • Jewelry - If you're mom loves accessories, treat her to a unique piece of jewelry from the Museum Stores. The stores features a range of styles, from affordable sea glass jewelry to upscale pieces. This month, receive 15% off all jewelry over $10.
  • Books - Grab your mom one of our popular paper turners just in time for relaxing summer beach days. Vintage Outer Banks: Shifting Sands and Bygone Beaches is an excellent book to pick up if your mom loves Outer Banks nostaglia. This book revisits old landmarks, history and photographs from yesteryear. The stores also feature cook books, historic generes and coastal lifestyle literature.
  • Skincare - Organic, locally made soaps and skincare products from the Museum Stores make great gifts for mom. Lavendar and cirtus essential oils sprays smell wonderful, can help elevate her mood and also ward off mosquitos this summer.
  • Home Goods - Glassware, whitty signage and ornaments are a few of the items your mom will love to add to her home. Prints from Frank Stick's art collection and Outer Banks maps are also available for mom's who love coastal decor.
  • Specialty Foods - Pick up North Carolina peanuts, candy and other sweet treats for mom.

Experiences with Mom

  • History Tour - Take mom on a trip back to 1585 and visit our historic sites at the park. Get a picture with mom on the Elizabeth II and watch the blacksmith make a hand-forged nail for her to take home in the Settlement Site. American Indian Town and the Adventure Museum are also fun places to explore together.
  • Nature Walk - If a gift is out your budget this year, spend some time with mom enjoying the boardwalk, piers and walking paths around the park. Soak up the fresh air, scenery and good conversation.
  • Concerts - If your mom is a music lover, take her to one of our upcoming concerts. The Bluegrass Island Festival, Crowder and Gov't Mule are all coming to the park soon. Order your tickets in advance online and add this fun experience to your mother's day card.

We look forward to seeing you and your mom at the park this May. Happy Mother's Day!
